Celebrate your simcha in your own venue with a beautiful traditional, egalitarian Shabbat service.
My name is Ruth Rabin
I'm an experienced Shul Gabbait.
My role as synagogue Gabbait has been to organise, run and sometimes lead Shabbat and Festival services at our traditional egalitarian (Masorti) community, skills which I've honed over several years.
Our services have been praised for being warm, inclusive and accessible, and our Shabbat morning service was given a 5-Star review by the Secret Shul Goer in 2018 ("Very slick"!).

We come into our own when we have a Simcha to celebrate together, be it a Bar Mitzvah, a Bat Mitzvah, a Baby Blessing or an Oufruf, and we can offer you this experience, even if you are not a member of our community.

Together with my husband we form a team with all the necessary skills to lead, read and run a whole Shabbat service, and we can bring that to you.
Read on to learn more about what we do, and how we can help.
Shabbat Service Planning
We can organise and run a traditional, egalitarian Shabbat service to include a Bar-mitzvah, a Bat-mitzvah, a baby blessing or an oufruf, or without any particular simcha, just a regular Shabbat service.

You don’t need a Rabbi to celebrate in shul!

Here’s what we can do:

-
We will attend for the whole of the Shabbat, and run our warm, melodic, traditional (Masorti) egalitarian services in your venue, be it at your home or another location.
-
We will arrange all the honours and honourees for the service, in accordance with halacha and your preferences.
-
We will organise all the service leaders and Torah readers as necessary, either from your guests or from our own experienced leaders. We will ensure that all service leaders are competent and fluent.
-
We can even deliver a personalised address and a D’var Torah if requested.
-
We will consult with you at all stages of the planning.

Bar- and Bat-Mitzvah teaching
As a separate package to our service conducting, we also offer Bar- and Bat-Mitzvah teaching, either in-person or via video call.

David Rabin is a qualified and experienced teacher, having successfully tutored over 100 young people for Bar Mitzvah or Bat Mitzvah. David's experience is diverse, having taught students from various backgrounds, across the spectrum of denominations.

We recommend starting the process around a year before the date, depending on the level of Hebrew and Jewish knowledge.

I hear what fantastic work you have been doing training new service leaders.

We loved watching ...
... the recordings of you singing the liturgy - you have such a lovely voice and we all sang along with you :)

Lucky to have you
David - You worked your magic on all three [of our children], managing to get the best from them. It takes someone with patience and a special talent to bring the best out of teenagers in the way that you do - inspiring them and educating them at the same time. It's a very unique skill you have.
